Many faiths stress the importance of preparing our hearts and souls\"file0001412591055\"<\/a> for the coming of Christ during the four weeks leading up to Christmas. \u00a0This year, why not journal your Advent Season? \u00a0To help you along, here are some prompts and suggested Scripture readings for each day during the first week of Advent. \u00a0May your meditations and thoughts bring you closer to the blessings of the Season!<\/p>\n

First Sunday in Advent:<\/strong><\/p>\n

If you are using an Advent wreath, you probably lit the first candle today. The candles can have many meanings, but for this particular meditation, we’ll focus on a very common one: Hope. \u00a0Today, read Isaiah 61:1-3. \u00a0Which group of people mentioned in the Scripture do you most relate to today? How has the hope of salvation through Christ changed your life?<\/p>\n

Monday:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Read Romans 5:1-5. How have you shared this hope with people in your life in the past few months? How can you share more of this hope in the next few weeks?<\/p>\n

Tuesday:<\/strong><\/p>\n

How will the hope in Christ impact your future in the coming days and throughout eternity? Read I Thessalonians 4:16-17.<\/p>\n

Wednesday:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Read Psalm 80:17-19. Now, write your own psalm of praise for the hope that God gives you.<\/p>\n

Thursday:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Read Psalm 25:1-10. What will you praise God for on this day?<\/p>\n

Friday:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Read Luke 21:25-36. \u00a0How are you preparing your heart for Christ’s coming during this Christmas season? How is that similar to the way in which you prepare your heart to spend eternity with Him? How is it different?<\/p>\n

Saturday:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Read Luke 1:5-17. \u00a0How is this story of Zechariah and Elizabeth related to the Christmas story? How do you think the people of Jesus’ day felt about these events?<\/p>\n
